The 27 aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Zamfara State House of Assembly have approached the Federal High Court in Gusau, seeking the nullification of the party’s recently concluded primary elections.

The aspirants are challenging the process that led to the conduct of the primaries and are asking the court to declare the exercise invalid.

The suit is part of a wider dispute involving several APC aspirants who were not cleared to participate in the party’s 2027 primary elections in Zamfara State.

The plaintiffs appeared before Justice Hassan Dikko of the Federal High Court, Gusau, for the first mention of the case.

However, proceedings could not continue as some of the defendants, including the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were not represented in court.

In addition, several other defendants comprising candidates declared winners of the primaries had not been successfully served with court processes.

The inability to effect service on all parties prompted the court to adjourn the matter for further mention

Speaking after the sitting, counsel for the plaintiffs, Gambo Isa, said the applicants are urging the court to nullify the APC State Assembly primary elections conducted in Zamfara State.

Justice Hassan  Dikko has adjourned the case till June 29, 2026
