The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has stated that it has identified and taken into custody officers seen in a viral video allegedly extorting an FCT resident of N40,000 along Wuye-Utako Road, by Salem Church.

In a statement issued to newsmen on Monday by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, was quoted as saying: “The Command was alerted to the video circulating on social media.

“The officers depicted have been identified and are currently in custody, pending investigation.”

According to the statement, the Command has also invited the complainant to the FCT Police Command Headquarters to tender an official statement to aid disciplinary action. He can reach the Police Public Relations Officer on 07038979348 or 08180382808.

CP Sanusi reiterated that the Command will not tolerate extortion, abuse of authority, or any form of unprofessional conduct by personnel.

“Any officer found culpable after due investigation will face appropriate disciplinary and legal action in accordance with extant laws and regulations,” he said.

The Command urged members of the public to report cases of police misconduct and provide information that may assist investigations.

It reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and respect for the rights of all residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
