Gunmen abducted the principal of Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Kogi State's Dekina Local Government Area, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) official during an examination, police said. The attack disrupted the ongoing examination and triggered a security response.

Kogi State Police Command confirmed the abduction and said security operatives had launched a manhunt for the attackers while efforts were underway to rescue the victims safely.

The incident adds to persistent security concerns over attacks on schools in Nigeria, despite repeated government assurances to strengthen protection for educational institutions following previous mass abductions.
