The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it will recognise only the candidates submitted by the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress, confirming that the faction has nominated candidates for 471 elective positions ahead of the 2027 general election.

The commission's decision follows months of legal and leadership disputes within the ADC over control of the party and access to INEC's candidate nomination portal. The latest recognition affirms the nominations submitted by the Mark-led faction for the upcoming polls.

The development is expected to shape preparations for the 2027 elections, with the recognised list including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party's presidential candidate. The leadership dispute, however, remains the subject of ongoing legal proceedings.
