Abductors of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife have released a video showing the couple pleading with authorities to help secure their release.
The former military spokesman and his wife were reportedly kidnapped about a week ago along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, near Zakin Baure village.
In the four-minute video circulating on social media, the wife of the retired General appealed to the Katsina State Government, traditional rulers and community leaders to intervene.
According to her, the kidnappers are demanding the release of three individuals identified as Sani, Aminu and Nasiru, whom they claimed are being held by security agencies.
She also said the abductors are asking for the return of about 200 cows allegedly seized from them.
Speaking briefly in the video, Major General Abubakar called for efforts to restore peace, saying the abductors had indicated willingness to engage in dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
