Nigeria’s specialised Mining Marshall unit has dislodged  several illegal dealers and their notorious trading hubs in the M.I. Wushishi area of Minna metropolis

The raid resulted in the arrest of 41 suspects, including illegal miners and mineral dealers.

Authorities are now seeking  stronger partnerships with state government to secure the nation’s mineral revenues

The M.I. Wushishi neighborhood in Minna has recently transformed into a hotspot for illicit mineral trade, with unauthorized dealer shops operating openly.

Beyond severe environmental degradation, these unregulated activities present a growing threat to local security.

To combat this, the NSCDC Mining Marshall Unit—led by Commander Jibrin Muhammed—used the cover of last Sunday night’s downpour to embark on a surprise raid.

Commander Muhammed emphasizes that the dislodgement is not a one-off exercise.

The unit vows to sustain these operations until all illegal mining sites across Niger State are fully secured.

The NSCDC is also seeking stronger collaboration with the state government to enforce mining regulations and boost official revenue.

The command assures residents that it remains committed to protecting the nation’s solid mineral wealth and ensuring all operators comply strictly with federal environmental and mining law
